Is the NCAA considering moving to the 30 second shot clock? If so, is there a projected year in which this change will happen?
The NCAA Rules Committee gave this particular question a lot of consideration during its meeting in January but decided to retain the 35 second shot clock. Part of their decision was based on a survey that every official and coach on the collegiate level was asked to participate. Although the referees who responded supported going to 30 seconds, the collegiate coaches overwhelmingly supported maintaining the current 35 seconds. Since the NCAA Water Polo Rules Book is now printed on a two year cycle, the next time the committee will consider making any rules change will be January, 2010. This includes the revisiting the shot clock time.
