Harvard Announces 2008 Men's Schedule

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The 2008 schedule for the Harvard men’s water polo team has been released and the Crimson is slated to play seven dual regular-season games and in three tournaments, including its semi-annual California trip for the Claremont Convergence.

Harvard kicks off the season locally when the Crimson competes in the Cambridge Invitational at MIT Sept. 12-14. Harvard will then visit MIT for a dual matchup Thursday, Sept. 18.

The Crimson will make its first home appearance of the year when it hosts the ECAC Championships Sept. 20-21, as all games during the tournament are scheduled to take place at Blodgett Pool. Harvard then travels to New London, Conn., to square off against Connecticut College before returning home for a contest against Brown University on Wednesday, Oct. 1.

Harvard then heads to the West Coast to play in the Claremont Convergence on the weekend of Oct. 3-5. Harvard continues its road trip with two games in New York on Oct. 11 and 12, as the team will face Iona and Fordham.

Following a few days off, the Crimson close out the regular season Oct. 18-19, with two games at home against Queens College and St. Francis College.

The postseason commences with the Northern Division Championships held at MIT Nov. 8-9. With a successful showing, Harvard will qualify for the Eastern Championships hosted by Navy Nov. 21-23.

Last year, the Crimson finished in fourth place at Easterns after defeating No. 20 Johns Hopkins University, 9-7, and falling to George Washington University, 7-5. Harvard completed the 2007 campaign 15-15 overall.
