Harvard Announces 2008 Men's Schedule
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.
-- The 2008 schedule for the Harvard men’s water
polo team has been released and the Crimson is slated to play seven
dual regular-season games and in three tournaments, including its
semi-annual California trip for the Claremont Convergence.
Harvard kicks off the season locally when the Crimson competes in
the Cambridge Invitational at MIT Sept. 12-14. Harvard will then
visit MIT for a dual matchup Thursday, Sept. 18.
The Crimson will make its first home appearance of the year when
it hosts the ECAC Championships Sept. 20-21, as all games during
the tournament are scheduled to take place at Blodgett Pool.
Harvard then travels to New London, Conn., to square off against
Connecticut College before returning home for a contest against
Brown University on Wednesday, Oct. 1.
Harvard then heads to the West Coast to play in the Claremont
Convergence on the weekend of Oct. 3-5. Harvard continues its road
trip with two games in New York on Oct. 11 and 12, as the team will
face Iona and Fordham.
Following a few days off, the Crimson close out the regular season
Oct. 18-19, with two games at home against Queens College and St.
Francis College.
The postseason commences with the Northern Division Championships
held at MIT Nov. 8-9. With a successful showing, Harvard will
qualify for the Eastern Championships hosted by Navy Nov.
21-23.
Last year, the Crimson finished in fourth place at Easterns after
defeating No. 20 Johns Hopkins University, 9-7, and falling to
George Washington University, 7-5. Harvard completed the 2007
campaign 15-15 overall.
