Week 15 National Women's Water Polo Polls Released; UCLA, Pomona-Pitzer & Cal Poly Top Varsity, Division III & Collegiate Club Ranks

BRIDGEPORT, Pa.  -- The University of California-Los Angeles, Pomona-Pitzer Colleges and California Polytechnic State University stand atop the nation this week as the May 7 National Collegiate Women's Varsity Top 20, Division III Top 10 and Collegiate Club Top 20 Polls were released by the Collegiate Water Polo Association.

Leading the pack of the nation's best varsity collegiate programs is the University of California, Los Angeles as the 2006 and 2007 NCAA National Champion Bruins remained a unanimous #1 selection for the 16th week in a row, including the 2008 preseason poll.

The poll saw only two changes this week as the University of California-Davis surpassed Arizona State Univeristy in climbing one place to eighth, while Princeton University edged in front of Santa Clara University for 17th place.

Pomona-Pitzer Colleges held onto its spot as the small college team in the final Division III poll of the year. California State University-East Bay moved up to second place, while California Lutheran University, University of California-Santa Cruz, Claremont Mudd Scripps College, Occidental College, Chapman College, University of Redlands, Whittier College and University of LaVerne round out the Top 10.

California Polytechnic State University closed out the season as the No. 1 team in the Collegiate Club ranks as the Mustangs captured the 2008 National Collegiate Club Championship on May 4 by a 7-6 OT score against the University of Oregon. Cal Poly, which was ranked second last week, is followed in this week's poll by Oregon, which moved up five places to No. 2.

The University of California-Davis, which was ranked first last week, slipped to third, while the University of Arizona, the University of Pennsylvania, UCLA, the University of Michigan, the University of Florida, the University of Notre Dame and Middlebury College round out the Top 10.
