The Collegiate Water Polo Association has announced the 2008 Women's Collegiate Club All-America Team. California Polytechnic State University's Sarah Ur, the Most Valuable Player of the National Collegiate Club Championship for leading her team to the 2008 National Championship, earned Player of the Year honors. The University of Oregon, Notre Dame University and California Polytechnic led the All-America teams with four honorees each.
2008 CWPA Hall of Fame inductee and United States Olympic team starting goalie Betsey Armstrong is featured with teammate Heather Petri on Yahoo.com's video service, Y!Video, in preparation of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
The NCAA has presented the Bucknell University Department of Athletics and Recreation with a Diversity in Athletics Award. Bucknell was one of seven schools recognized for Gender Equity Compliance, which is one of eight categories of diversity success stories highlighted by the NCAA, with research supplied by the Laboratory for Diversity in Sport at Texas A&M University.
Johns Hopkins University's Sean McCreery picked up his third Division III Player of the Year award as he was recognized for his play during the 2007 season. A 2006 and 2007 All-America first team selection, he led the Blue Jays with 93 goals this season. He finished his career with 310 goals, ranking him fourth in program history. He also owns three of the top-four single season goal totals in JHU history. In his four seasons, the Blue Jays posted a 73-53 record with three Division III Eastern Championships.

65 CWPA athletes were honored by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches on the organiation's All-America Academic Team. In addition, eight CWPA programs were honored with Team Awards, including Harvard University which led the nation with a 3.40 grade point average.
Indiana University head water polo coach Barry King has announced the addition of five new players for the 2009 season. The class includes Hanna Eimstad (Portland, Ore), Kristin Harmidy (Kirkland, Quebec, Canada), Sara Joseph (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.), Jakie Köhli (Burnaby, B.C., Canada) and Allison Silver (Mountain View, Calif.). All five will be freshmen entering the upcoming season.

Brown University Head Water Polo Coach Felix Mercado was elected to the Collegiate Water Polo Association Board of Directors at the organizations annual meeting on June 4. The seven-member Board of Directors is charged with enforcing the rules and guidelines of the CWPA established by the league membership. The election marks Mercados second governing body selection this year as he was appointed to the NCAA Men's Water Polo Committee in February.
Twenty prospects from eight states are among the newcomers to the Navy water polo program's Class of 2012, which reported for Plebe Summer and the Naval Academy's "Induction Day" on July 2. The Midshipmen will open the season on September 6-7 with the Navy Open at home in Annapolis.
Bucknell University has announced the hiring of former UC Santa Barbara standout Paul Rave as assistant coach for both Bison squads. Rave was the interim head womens water polo coach at his alma mater this past spring, leading the Gauchos against a schedule that featured 22 nationally ranked teams.
USA Water Polo announced on June 30 the U.S. Olympic Teams for Men's and Women's Water Polo that will compete at the upcoming Summer Games in Beijing, China starting August 8. Anchoring the women's team in goal is 2008 CWPA Hall of Fame inductee Betsey Armstrong.
