Navy's Mike Mulvey Named to 2008 NCAA All-Tournament Team
PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Mike Mulvey (Sr., Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad) of the United States Naval Academy was named to the second team of the 2008 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) All-Tournament Team.
The lone USNA representative earning second team recognition, Mulvey tallied a hat-trick against No. 1 nationally ranked and national champion the University of Southern California in the semifinals and concludes the year with 62 goals.
For his four year career, he finishes with 206 goals to rank sixth on the Naval Academy career records list.
Overall, he helped Navy clinch its third consecutive Eastern Championship as the No. 11 nationally ranked Midshipmen end their 2008 campaign with a 20-11 record, their third-straight NCAA Final Four appearance and the 14th-overall trip to the NCAA Tournament.
In addition, the Midshipmen clinched the program's fourth straight 20-win season and the 23rd since 1983.
Mulvey and five other members of the USNA Class of 2009 led Navy to three NCAA trips and produced a 89-30 (.801) over its four-year tenure, including an 11-1 mark in Collegiate Water Polo Association Eastern Tournament games.
