No. 11 University of Maryland Takes Down Gannon University, 13-3, in CWPA Western Division Play

ERIE, Pa. -- Katie Ermakova tied a career high with four goals and No. 11-ranked University of Maryland dominated defensively in a convincing 13-3 victory over Gannon University in a Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Western Division contest at Gannon's Carneval Athletic Pavillion.

Allison Campbell, Christine Goetsch and Nicole Tobin each had two goals apiece for the Terrapins (9-3, 3-0) who extended their winning streak to four and remained atop the division standings.

"We did what we wanted to do defensively and that fed our offense," Maryland head coach Carl Salyer said.

Campbell and Ermakova each had four steals and Rebecca Gerrity chipped in three as the Terps held Gannon (2-7) scoreless in the second half.

Ermakova's second goal of the game in the second quarter gave the Terps a commanding 6-1 lead.

Gannon closed the gap with a pair of goals in the second period, but Maryland extended the lead after halftime with goals by Goetsch, Tobin and Campbell.

Rachel Stein went the distance in net and posted six blocks, while Zoe Respondek had a career-high six points (one goal, five assists) for Maryland.
