Notre Dame College Edges Washington & Jefferson College 14-13 in Southern Division Action
SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- The Washington & Jefferson College men’s water polo team’s attempt at a fourth-quarter comeback came up just short, as it fell 14-13 at Notre Dame College in Southern Division-West Region play.
Senior Andy Rish (North East, Pa./Cathedral Prep) and juniors Cameron Chaves (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) and Joey Weiland (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) all recorded hat tricks for the Presidents, who fell to 3-7 this season.
Freshman Carl Krause (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon) added a pair of goals, while classmates Mike Magdic (Franklin Park, Pa./North Allegheny) and Ben Mancini (Oreland, Pa./Springfield Township) each netted one. Mancini’s goal was the first of his career.
Sophomore goalkeeper Dan Francisco (Chicago, Ill./Fenwick) made eight saves and grabbed two steals. Francisco split time with freshman Chris DeNunzio (Greenwich, Conn./Canterbury), who made seven stops and added three steals.
