BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- 2011 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Eastern Championship Most Valuable Player Drew Hoffenberg (Fr., Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./The Bishop's School) earned his first weekly honors from the league garnering the November 21 Men's Varsity Southern Division Player and Rookie of the Week awards.
Hoffenberg, who garnered Rookie of the Tournament, Most Valuable Player and a First Team All-Tournament selection honors at the Eastern Championship, tallied eight goals during the championship tournament in leading the Tigers to the league crown and a bid to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship during the weekend of December 3-4 at the University of California-Berkeley.
In the opening game of the tournament, he registered a goal as then No. 19 Princeton downed Iona College 14-3 to advance to the semifinals. Finally, he tacked on a hat-trick in a 10-7 title game victory over the then No. 15-ranked Midshipmen of the United States Naval Academy.
