BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- 2011 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Eastern Championship Most Valuable Player Drew Hoffenberg (Fr., Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./The Bishop's School) earned his first weekly honors from the league garnering the November 21 Men's Varsity Southern Division Player and Rookie of the Week awards.

Hoffenberg, who garnered Rookie of the Tournament, Most Valuable Player and a First Team All-Tournament selection honors at the Eastern Championship, tallied eight goals during the championship tournament in leading the Tigers to the league crown and a bid to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship during the weekend of December 3-4 at the University of California-Berkeley.

In the opening game of the tournament, he registered a goal as then No. 19 Princeton downed Iona College 14-3 to advance to the semifinals.  Against defending Eastern Champion St. Francis College in the semifinals, he recorded four goals as the Tigers rallied to knock off the then No. 16-ranked Terriers 13-11 in overtime.  Finally, he tacked on a hat-trick in a 10-7 title game victory over the then No. 15-ranked Midshipmen of the United States Naval Academy.

The first student-athlete in league history (men/women) to earn both the Rookie of the Tournament and MVP awards at the same Eastern Championship, Hoffenberg, an All-South Second Team pick, scored once in the first period and twice in the fourth period, including the eventual game-winning tally with 6:53 left in the final period of play against Navy, as the Tigers claimed their third Eastern title in the last six years and fourth overall (1992, 2006, 2008, 2011).
