University of Michigan Named Host Site for 2013 CWPA Women's Eastern Championship

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- The University of Michigan will host the 2013 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Women's Eastern Championship on April 26-28 to determine the league's representative to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Women's Water Polo Championship on May 10-12 at the McDonald's Swim Stadium on the campus of the University of Southern California.

It marks the second time in five years that the Wolverines will serve as host of the league's championship tournament as Michigan last hosted the event in 2008, capturing the championship crown.  In addition, it marks the fourth time the Maize and Blue will host a postseason championship as Michigan was the site of the 2005 and 2010 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Women's Water Polo Championships.

A format and game times for the championship are pending dependent upon the number of Division I/II programs in the CWPA for the 2013 season. Currently, 13 teams field varsity programs in the CWPA on the Division I/II level: Brown University, Princeton University, George Washington University, Bucknell University, Harvard University, Salem International University, Notre Dame College (Ohio), the University of Maryland, Gannon University, Hartwick College, Indiana University, Mercyhurst College and Michigan.
