BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Stanford University remains at No. 1 in the country as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2019 Men’s Varsity National Top 20, Division III Top 10, Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Top Five and Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Top Five Week 6/October 16 Polls.

Whittier College (Division III Top 10) and Harvard University (NWPC Top Five) also retain top billing, while Bucknell University (MAWPC Top Five) moves back into the No. 1 position in the Bison’s league poll.

Voted on by a panel of coaches from the MAWPC, NWPC, Golden Coast Conference, Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), SCIAC and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the polls will be compiled and released on Wednesday during each week of the season through the week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.

2019 Men’s Varsity National Top 20 (Week 6/October 16)

Stanford University continues its reign at No. 1 in the Week 6/October 16 National Men’s Varsity Top 20 Poll.

Stanford (98 points), the University of California-Los Angeles (96 points), University of the Pacific (90 points), the University of Southern California (84 points) and the University of California-Santa Barbara (80 points) remain at No. 1-to-5 as the upper echelon of the weekly rankings stays the same from the Week 5/October 9 balloting.

Pepperdine University (75 points) and Long Beach State University (67 points) inch up to No. 6 and 7, respectively, while the University of California (66 points) slips to No. 8.  Harvard University (59 points) edges out the University of California-San Diego (58 points) as the Crimson and Tritons exchange the No. 9 and 10 slots.

Loyola Marymount University (49 points) sticks at No. 11 for another week with the University of California-Irvine (43 points) and the University of California-Davis (40 points) trading the No. 12 and 13 berths.

Bucknell University (33 points) and George Washington University (26 points) follow suit in rising and falling to No. 14 and 15, respectively, while Fordham University (22 points) and Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (17 points) assume the No. 16 and 17 positions.

Princeton University (15 points) improves one place to No. 18, San Jose State University (10 points) cracks the Top 20 at No. 19 and the duo of St. Francis College Brooklyn (9 points) and California Baptist University (9 points) tie at No. 20 to complete the Week 6 rankings.

2019 Men’s Varsity Division III Top 10 (Week 6/October 16)

The Poets of Whittier College stay at No. 1 in the Week 6/October 16 Men’s Varsity Division III Top 10 Poll.

Whittier (99 points) leads a Division III poll which experiences radical shifts from No. 2-to-10 with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (96 points) climbing two spots to No. 2.  Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (86 points) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (86 points) enter a tie at No. 3, while California Lutheran University (79 points) moves up one position to No. 5.

Chapman University (74 points) slips to No. 6 with the University of Redlands (73 points) and the University of La Verne (60 points) taking over at No. 7 and 8.

Johns Hopkins University (52 points) and Occidental College (46 points) complete the weekly ranking at No. 9 and 10.

2019 Men’s Varsity Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Top 5 (Week 6/October 16)

The Bison of Bucknell University return to the No. 1 position in the Week 6/October 16 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Top Five Poll.

Bucknell (99 points) takes over the top spot for the first time since the Week 2/September 18 voting as Fordham University (Week 3) and George Washington University (Week 4, Week 5) led the MAWPC rankings for the past three weeks.

Behind the Bison, GW (93 points) and Fordham (93 points) are now tied at No. 2, while the United States Naval Academy (68 points) and Wagner College (48 points) again complete the weekly Top Five.

The MAWPC features 14 teams as Bucknell, Fordham, George Washington, Navy, Wagner, Johns Hopkins University and La Salle University comprise the Eastern Region, with Gannon University, Mercyhurst University, Monmouth College, Salem University, Washington & Jefferson College, Connecticut College and McKendree University competing in the Western Region.

Harvard University retains the No. 1 spot in the Week 6/October 16 Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Top Five Poll.

The Crimson (100 points) hold off Princeton University (94 points) which inches up to No. 2.  St. Francis College Brooklyn (91 points) slips to No. 3 with Brown University (85 points) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (80 points) hanging on at No. 4 and 5.
