BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Another week and another top billing for the Trojans as defending National Champion the University of Southern California remains the undisputed top team in the country as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2019 Week 5/February 20 Women’s Varsity National Top 25, Division III Top 10, CWPA Top 10 and CWPA Division III Top Five Polls.
Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (Division III), the University of Michigan (CWPA Top 10) and Macalester College (CWPA Division III Top Five) also retain No. 1 status in their respective rankings.
Voted on by a panel of coaches from the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), the Golden Coast Conference, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Big West Conference, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and the CWPA based on the cumulative results of the season, the polls are compiled and released on Wednesday during the season through the week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.
2019 Women’s Varsity National Top 25 (Week 5/February 20)
The University of Southern California, which captured the 2018 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship, retains the title of top-ranked team in the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Women’s Varsity National Top 25 Poll.
The first 11 positions in the Top 25 remain unchanged as USC (100 points), Stanford University (96 points), the University of California-Los Angeles (91 points), the University of California (87 points), the University of Hawaii (84 points), the University of Michigan (79 points), the University of California-Irvine (78 points), Arizona State University (70 points), the University of California-Santa Barbara (67 points) and University of the Pacific (66 points) remain at No. 1-to-10, respectively.
The University of California-Davis (60 points) hangs on at No. 11 with Loyola Marymount University (56 points) breaking a tie with San Jose State University (52 points) to acquire sole control of the No. 12 spot. Princeton University (46 points), Fresno State University (45 points) and Harvard University (40 points) stick at No. 14-to-16 for another week.
Parity dominates the final nine spots in the Top 25 as Long Beach State University (32 points) and the University of California-San Diego (32 points) remain tied at No. 17, while Wagner College (26 points) and Indiana University (26 points) pull even at No. 19.
California State University-Northridge (19 points) stays locked in at No. 21 with Bucknell University (14 points) and Marist College (14 points) tying at No. 22.
California Baptist University (10 points) stays at No. 24 with San Diego State University (4 points) and Azusa Pacific University (4 points) wrapping up the Top 25 in a tie for the final spot.

2019 Women’s Varsity Division III Top 10 (Week 5/February 20)
Pomona-Pitzer Colleges continues to hold the top spot in the Women’s Varsity Division III Top 10 Poll.
The Sagehens (99 points) lead a Top 10 which experiences minor changes from the Week 4/February 13 voting.
California Lutheran University (95 points), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (91 points), Whittier College (81 points) and Chapman University (80 points) retain the No. 2-to-5 positions.
The University of Redlands (75 points) trades the No. 6 and 7 positions with the University of La Verne (73 points) with Macalester College (62 points) and Occidental College (51 points) remaining at No. 8 and 9.
The final change in the Top 10 comes in the final position as Washington & Jefferson College (23 points) joins Monmouth College (23 points) in a tie.

The Top 10 remains unchanged from last week as Harvard University (93 points), Princeton University (91 points), Bucknell University (85 points), Brown University (81 points), George Washington University (74 points), Saint Francis University (68 points), Macalester College (67 points), Connecticut College (58 points) and Carthage College (36 points) complete the rankings.

2019 Women’s Varsity Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Top 10 (Week 5/February 20)
Macalester College, which captured the 2017 and 2018 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Championships, retains its rating at No. 1 in the CWPA Division III Top Five Poll.
Macalester (98 points), which joined Grove City College (2010-2012) and Connecticut College (2013-2016) as the sole teams to ever claim the CWPA Division III league crown, leads a Top Five which experiences no changes from the Week 4 balloting.
Connecticut (87 points), Carthage College (72 points), Washington & Jefferson College (71 points) and Monmouth College (38 points) complete the rankings.
