Collegiate Water Polo Association Hall of Fame Coach/Coordinator of Officials Education Ed Reed Takes Home Eight Medals in 80-84 Age Group at 2025 U.S. Masters Swimming Summer Nationals

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Hall of Fame member/former Brown University men’s swimming and water polo coach/former University of Alabama Aquatics Director, swim coach, collegiate club water polo coach/CWPA, Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC), Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Coordinator of Officials Education Ed Reed claimed eight medals – including seven championships – in the 80-84 age group at the U.S. Masters Swimming 2025 Summer Nationals in Federal Way, Washington.

Reed started competition on Thursday, August 7, by touching the wall in 4:04.09 to capture the 200-meter breaststroke by over nine seconds (4:04.09-to-4:13.79).  He returned to the water to swim the second leg/50-meter breaststroke of the gold-medal winning 200 medley relay (2:48.27) which beat its seed time (2:59.0) by nearly 11 seconds. The Hall of Fame member capped off his day by posting a time of 8:09.37 in the 400-meter individual medley to outdistance the runner-up (12:52.59) and register another gold-medal performance. 

On Friday, August 8, he garnered a gold medal by winning the 50-meter breaststroke in 46.26 to edge the event’s runner-up (47.16) prior to notching a split of 34.61 in the third leg of the 200-meter freestyle relay to net another title.  He closed out the day with a runner-up mark in the 400-meter freestyle in a time of 6:46.80 – besting his seed time of 6:54.48 – to finish behind Michael McColly (6:12.07). 

Reed wrapped up his weekend in the Pacific Northwest by winning the 200-meter individual medley (3:51.58) and 100-meter breaststroke (1:48.31) clip his closest competitors who finished in 5:54.09 and 1:59.52, respectively.
