BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Finn Banks (Sr., Portola Valley, Calif./Sacred Heart Prep) notched three goals and five assists for Division III No. 7-ranked Johns Hopkins University at the inaugural Division III Collegiate Water Polo National Championship sponsored by USA Water Polo to earn status as the December 9 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Player of the Week.

Competing at Whittier College’s Slade Aquatics Center in Whittier, Calif., Banks dished out a pair of assists during a 14-11 loss in the semifinal round against Division III No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Saturday, December 7.  On Sunday, December 8, against Division III No. 4 the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the Third Place game, he contributed three goals and three assists as the Blue Jays fell by a 20-13 score versus the Engineers.

A member of the Division III National Championship All-Tournament Team and a first-time weekly honor recipient from the league office, Banks finished the year with 71 assists to break the program’s single-season record.  He also concluded the 2019 campaign with 141 points (70 goals, 71 assists) – the second most in school history.

Banks finishes his career ranked among JHU’s Top-10 in points (349), goals (200), assists (145) and ejections drawn (133). He is just the seventh player in program history with 300 points and 200 goals in his career.
