BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) released the men’s water polo Rating Percentage Index (RPI), a ranking system that uses a team’s winning percentage, its opponents’ winning percentage and its foes opponents’ winning percentage to rank teams based on their strength of schedule, for games through Monday, December 8.
The RPI is a metric for NCAA tournament selection committees to evaluate which teams deserve an at-large bid and how they should be seeded.
The Big West had the highest average position at 13.33, while the West Coast Conference (14.86), Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) (27.29), Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (28.18), Northeast Water Polo Conference (28.83), Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (35.22) and Western Water Polo Association (36.57) complete the conference rankings.
