No. 1 California Polytechnic State University-vs.-No 11 University of Florida Scoresheet (2025 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship – Game #16)

CARLISLE, Pa. — The sextet of Daniel Davis (Sr., Alamo, Calif.), Owen Taylor (Sr., Menlo Park, Calif.), Jake Anderson (Sr., Redwood City, Calif.), Wyatt Rantz (Jr., Alamo, Calif.), Bo Clemens (So., Solana Beach, Calif.) and Aiden Seed (Sr., Woodside, Calif.) each scored twice to share Player of the Game kudos as Pacific Coast Division Champion/No. 1-ranked California Polytechnic State University topped Florida Division Champion/No. 15 the University of Florida in the 2025 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship quarterfinals at the Carlisle YMCA Aquatic Center.

A five-time (1999, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2007) Men’s National Collegiate Club Champion, Cal Poly will return to the water for a semifinal clash with Texas Division Champion/No. 12 Texas A&M University at 6:20 p.m. Eastern later today.  The Aggies earned their meeting with the Mustangs by disposing of Sierra Pacific Division Champion/No. 1 California State University-Chico via an 11-10 count in an earlier quarterfinal.

Florida will take on Cal State Chico at 7:30 p.m. this evening with a berth in the Fifth Place game the prize.

The Mustangs fell behind 1-0 as Dylan Umpierre (Sr., Orlando, Fla.) converted a man-up chance with 3:36 left in the first quarter to provide Florida with a 1-0 margin.  The lead quickly evaporated as Cal Poly pulled ahead 3-1 with 2:21 left in the opening frame prior to the Gators chomping back to close within 3-2. 

A 5-0 surge by the Mustangs in the second quarter allowed the Mustangs to race out to an 8-2 halftime margin prior to another 5-0 string in the third quarter jacking up Cal Poly’s lead to 13-2 through 21 minutes/three quarters of action.

Cal Poly eased off its offensive pressure in the fourth quarter and posted a 3-2 scoring margin as the team coasted back into the championship’s semifinals.

Beyond Davis, Taylor, Anderson, Rantz, Clemens and Seed, Ryan Bousfield (Sr., Granite Bay, Calif.), Jack Haney (Sr., Redwood City, Calif.), Jackson Geiger (So., Aliso Viejo, Calif.) and Noah Corral (Jr., Pasadena, Calif.) notched solo strikes.

Across the tank, Umpierre accounted for half of Florida’s offensive output with a pair of goals.  Tristan Hollon-Brooks (Gr., Marietta, Georgia) and Alex Ionescu (Fr., San Diego, Calif.) equaled Umpierre’s total as the duo accounted for two goals.
