PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Goalie Aidan Rossiter (Sr., Orinda, Calif.) made 12 saves to notch Player of the Game accolades as Texas Division Champion/No. 11-ranked the University of Texas defeated New England Division Champion/No. 11 Boston College, 9-5, in the 2019 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship Ninth Place game.

  • Competing at the University of Pittsburgh’s Trees Pool in Game 29 of 30 at the three-day, 16-team event, the Longhorns used a four goal outburst in the second quarter to acquire a 5-2 lead by halftime and never look back in grounding the Eagles.
  • Tied at one-all at the end of the first quarter, Texas began to gain some breathing room versus Boston College as Nathan Craig (Sr., Friendswood, Texas) and Easton Honaker (Jr., Dallas, Texas) put away shots at 6:10 and 5:48, respectively, before Zander Keating (Sr., Round Rock, Texas) connected on a man-up opportunity at 3:50 to build the Longhorns’ lead to 4-1.
  • Jack Klingler (So., Newport Beach, Calif.) trimmed BC’s deficit down to 4-2 by finding the back of the cage with 2:20 until halftime, but Liam Veazey (Gr., Dallas, Texas) returned the spread to three at 5-2 by hooking in a shot with 22 ticks on the clock.
  • Nathan Yeung (Jr., Marin County, Calif.) scored to again move Boston College within a pair (5-3) with 4:55 to go in the third quarter.  Back-to-back scores from Mitchell Kim (Sr., Los Angeles, Calif.) and Honaker at 4:04 and 1:41, respectively, widened the gap to four at 7-3.  Michael Spence (Sr., San Francisco, Calif.) connected on consecutive goals with 47 and 12 seconds left to once again move BC within two at 7-5 prior to Alex Raterink (Jr., Friendswood, Texas) finishing out the frame with a line-drive shot that drew nothing but net with two seconds left.
  • Han Chen (Sr., Houston, Texas) wrapped up the victory for the Longhorns by ripping in a rifle shot on a man-up bid with 1:03 left for the 9-5 final score.
  • Spence led the way for Boston College with a hat-trick, while Yeung and Klingler both deposited single tallies.
  • In cage, the Eagles’ duo of Tyler Dubiel (Sr., Pleasanton, Calif.) and Hart Ayoob (Sr., San Francisco, Calif.) combined for 16 saves over the duration of the contest.  Ayoob took the loss with 12 saves in the first, third and fourth quarters, while Dubiel stopped four shots in the second quarter.
  • In the history of the program, Boston College has now finished in Fourth (2014), Ninth (2016, 2018), 10th (2019), 12th (2006) and 13th (2017) Place at the Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship.
  • Craig and Honaker both scored twice for Texas with Veazey, Kim, Keating, Chen and Raterink tacking on solo markers.
  • Texas, which previously posted Second (2010, 2017), Third (2012), Sixth (2005, 2009, 2014, 2018), Eighth (2013, 2015), 11th (2004) and 13th (2003) Place marks at the club championship event, adds another Top 10 finish to its resume as the team has placed among the Top 10 ten times to date.
