LORETTO, Pa. — Saint Francis University defeated Mercyhurst University, 15-8, in a senior day celebration honoring Emma Allamian and Emese Szucs.

The Red Flash were in the driver’s seat, maintaining a lead through the entire game. The home team was up 11-3 entering the fourth quarter. The Lakers scored five in the quarter, but the Red Flash kept ahold of their lead, with Szucs recording the final two goals of the game to lock up the win.

Saint Francis came out of the game by tallying four goals in the opening frame. Kayla Rhoads notched the first goal of the game. Szucs tallied her first goal of the game for a 2-0 lead with 3:36 to go. Mercyhurst responded, but goals by Caylah Olay and Szucs gave SFU a 4-1 lead.

In the third quarter, Saint Francis outscored Mercyhurst 4-1 once again. Lucy Willis found the back of the net just 24 seconds into the quarter, with Olay scoring again to extend their lead to 9-2. A goal by the Lakers narrowed the Red Flash lead at the 5:03 mark, but the offensive efforts by Saint Francis were unfazed with Rhoads and Aubrey Miller each tallying a goal.

Szucs made the most of her senior day, recording seven goals in front of the home crowd, while Rhoads, Olay and Sam Eschleman each notched two goals. Miller picked up one goal on the day.
