BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Goalie David Romero (Fr., Riverside, Calif./Martin Luther King Jr.) of Salem International University tallied nine saves with eight steals to anchor the Tigers to a 13-6 victory over host/reigning Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC)-West Region Champion Mercyhurst University during the Laker Invitational. For his effort, he is named the September 11 MAWPC Defensive Player of the Week.
In the exhibition portion of SIU’s schedule, he recorded 13 saves in a narrow 11-10 victory over the University of Toronto. He did not play against either Cerritos College or three-time defending Men’s National Collegiate Club Champion Lindenwood University.
