SALEM, W.Va. — Salem University head men’s water polo coach Rob Bullion announced the signing of eight recruits for the Fall 2020 season. The recruits represent four states and three countries outside of the United States.

“We have a strong class coming in that will hopefully help us fill the holes left by the seniors who graduated,” said Bullion, who enters his 10th season at Salem. “I am very happy with the talent both offensively and defensively. We have both young and older talent coming in this class which will help an already young and hungry team. I am very excited for this season to get started and we get to start meshing the team together for a potential championship run.”


Campbell Greyson Campbell is a utility player from Landsdale, Pa. Campbell earned All-State Third Team honors in his senior year and helped lead North Penn High School to the 2019 State Championship.

 

 


ErvinNicholas Ervin is a utility player from Porterville, Calif. Ervin helped lead Monache High School to a California Division 2 Valley runner-up finish.

 

 


HicksCarson Hicks is a hole set from Elmhurst, Ill. A graduate of York High School, Hicks was named to the 2019 All-State Third Team and the 2019 All-Sectional First Team.

 

 


HinzEthan Hinz is a utility player from Schwenksville, Pa. Hinz graduated from Perkiomen Valley High School, where he was a 2019 All-Conference First Team selection.

 

 


PiettaSamuel Pietta is a utility player from Brescia, Italy, and a graduate of University of Brescia. A two-time All-Region selection, Pietta trained in the Italy “A1” League and competed in the Italy “A2” and “B1” Leagues. He enrolled in January in graduate school at Salem.

 


SilvaGoncalo Silva is a goalkeeper from Lisbon, Portugal. Silva is a two-time recipient of the U-18 Best Player Award and was called for the Portugal U-20 National Team.

 

 


WilliamsDallas Williams is a center defender from Baytown, Texas. Williams was an All-District Second Team selection and Team MVP at Ross S. Sterling High School.

 

 


ZivojinovicIvan Zivojinovic is a utility player from Belgrade, Serbia. Zivojinovic played in the “A” Serbia League and also played in the Serbian Cup.

 

 


Salem posted a 12-12 record during the 2019 season, including a runner-up finish in the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division II Championship hosted in Salem. The Tigers’ Spring 2020 training and competition schedule was halted due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Presently, Salem is scheduled to open its Fall 2020 season on September 5-6 at the Navy Open, hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy. The Tigers are scheduled to host a tournament September 25-27 at Salem Pool. The 2020 CWPA Division II Championship is slated for October 25-26 at Mercyhurst University.

The 2020 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC)-West Championship is scheduled for November 7-8 at the Hallman Aquatics Center in Erie, Pa., with the winner advancing to the MAWPC Championship on November 20-22 at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. The MAWPC champion earns a berth in the 2020 NCAA Championship, which begins with opening-round play November 28-December 3 at four different sites. The four winners advance to the National Finals December 5-6 at Stanford University in Stanford, Calif.
