Columbia University-vs.-No. 17 Dartmouth College Scoresheet (2025 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship – Game #9)

CARLISLE, Pa. — Max Sweeney (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) and Kip Nilsson (Palo Alto, Calif.) racked up nine and eight goals, respectively, to share Player of the Game status and give New England Division Champion/No. 17-ranked Dartmouth College all the institution needed to turn back New York Division Champion Columbia University, 22-16, in the inaugural consolation game on the first day of the 2025 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship.

Competing at the Carlisle YMCA Aquatic Center, the Big Green outscored the Lions in the first (5-1), third (6-4) and fourth (6-5) quarters to pull away from Columbia and avoid a 13th/15th Place game during the evening of Saturday, November 8.

Dartmouth will return to the water at 1:40 p.m. Eastern on Saturday, November 8, against the victor of a consolation game later tonight pitting Great Lakes Division Champion/No. 19 the University of Notre Dame and Mid-Atlantic Division Championship runner-up Villanova University.  The winner of the Big Green’s next game plays for Ninth Place at 2:15 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, while the loser will contest the 11th Place game at 3:30 p.m.

Columbia will see its season come to a close at 8:40 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, as the Lions will face the fallen from the Notre Dame-Villanova game in a 13th/15th Place game.  Due to time restrictions, the 13th and 15th place positions in the 16-team championship field are not played out with the winners of the 13th/15th Place games tying for 13th and the losers tying for 15th.

For Dartmouth, Nik Nikcevic (Palo Alto, Calif.) and Justin Stone (La Jolla, Calif.) chipped in pairs of markers to join Sweeney and Nilsson in the multi-goal scoring column.  Ryan West (Palo Alto, Calif.) notched a solo strike.

Andrew Miller (Gr., Richmond, Texas) racked up seven goals for Columbia with Kai Spicer (Jr., East Lansing, Mich.) (four), Henry Pennington (Fr., Haverford, Pa.) (two) and Maxim Koretsky (Sr., Sunnyvale, Calif.) (two) also contributing multi-goal outputs to go along with a single tally by Achilles Tsirgis (Gr., New York, N.Y.).
