BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Kiefer Black (So., San Diego, Calif./La Jolla) of the No. 20-ranked United States Naval Academy men’s water polo team was a recent guest on Episode 9 of the Water Polo Wednesday podcast
A 2023 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-America Honorable Mention selection, Black garnered Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Rookie of the Year, First Team All-Conference, First Team All-MAWPC Tournament, and MAWPC Rookie of the Tournament accolades during his freshman campaign.
He played in 26 of 27 games last year and led the team with 125 total points on a team-high 68 goals and a team-best 57 assists. The 12th player in school history with a 100-point season and the first since Isaac Salinas (’22) finished with 104 points in 2019, he finished with the third-most points in a single season (125) behind Doug Munz (‘95) who had 184 in 1994 and Paul Pedrotty (‘13) who had 137 in 2012 – tops among Navy freshmen.
