2018 North Atlantic Division Women’s Schedule

North Atlantic Division Schedule Notes

Teams are scheduled to play every divisional opponent once and either two opponents a second time or one opponent and Colby College during the regular season. The additional games are selected randomly and are considered exhibition games in order to ensure the regular season standings are even in the number of games that count towards their league record (a total of six games). All teams are scheduled to play eight (8) games during the season in addition to the championship weekend. Teams are seeded for championship based on the regular season won/loss record. The division voted to all Colby College to participate as an exhibition team in an effort to help promote women’s water polo on their campus and their ability to join as a full member in 2018-19 school year.

On January 26th, teams voted 4-3 in favor of a three site season with all teams attending each of the three weekends. Locations were determined as Yale University (March 3-4), Bowdoin College (April 7-8) and MIT (April 14-15).

SCHEDULED REVISED 4.13.18: As of Friday, April 13th, the North Atlantic Championship Schedule has been revised at MIT during the weekend of April14-15, 2018. Teams voted 4-2 in favor of allowing Bowdoin College not to attend as they would be forfeiting all games. Please review the revised schedule.

Due to Tufts University, Wellesley College Yale University all finishing 4-2 overall and 1-1 in head-to-head games, the tie for the No. 2-4 seeds is determined by goal differential.  Yale claims the No. 2 seed by virtue of having a +4 differential (7-6 L vs. Tufts, 9-5 W vs. Wellesley) compared to Tufts’ even differential (14-13 L vs. Wellesley, 7-6 w vs. Yale) and Wellesley’s -3 (14-13 W vs. Tufts, 9-6 L vs. Yale).  The tiebreaker for the No. 3 seed reverts back to head-to-head as Wellesley defeated Tufts 14-13; Due to Bowdoin College electing to not attend the division championship tournament, the team does not earn a final finish in the standings.
