2019 Sierra Pacific Division Women’s Schedule

Sierra Pacific Division Schedule Notes

Teams play two regional weekends and a championship where teams are randomly selected other than teams entering “A” and “B” squads will not play each other. The division also determined no team will miss another team two seasons in a row. Championship seeding is based on the won/loss records during the regular season.

The division voted 6-3 in favor of the championship being the weekend of April 6-7 or the weekend of April 27-28. By league rules, each school receives only one vote. There are currently two schools able to host the championship weekend on April 6-7. The Univ. of California-Santa Cruz was originally scheduled to host the championship on the original weekend while Fresno State University was scheduled to host a regional on April 6-7. While Univ. of California-Santa Cruz is able to also host that date, they have decided to allow Fresno State University to host the championship in order to allow for three different hosting locations. Additionally, Univ. of California-Santa Cruz will have first right to host the championship during the 2020 Season as they lost that opportunity this season with the change of dates.

As of January 18th, the hours for all three sites are tentative until confirmed by each host.

* The University of California “A”, the University of California-Santa Cruz “A” and San Jose State University are all tied at 4-4 following the regular season.  The tie is broken by head-to-head results among the three teams as Cal “A” went 2-0 (12-9 W vs. UC-Santa Cruz “A”, 13-4 W vs, San Jose State University) compared to a 1-1 mark for UC-Santa Cruz “A” (13-6 W vs. San Jose State) and a 0-2 record for San Jose State.  The tiebreaker for the Sixth Seed is head-to-head between San Jose State and UC-Santa Cruz “A” with UC-Santa Cruz taking the spot due its victory; $ Positions No. 5-to-7 in the final standings are determined by goal differential as California State University-Chico, San Jose State and UC-Davis “B” all finished 1-1 in their round-robin play.  Due to this, CSU-Chico takes the No. 5 seed via a +5 goal differential (+6, -1) against San Jose State’s -3 (+3, -6) and UC-Davis “B”‘s -2 (+1, -3).  Tiebreakers then revert back to head-to-head with San Jose State claiming the No. 6 spot due to a head-to-head at the championship against UC-Davis “B”; ^ The final order of standing at No. 8-11 is determined by win-loss record and then goal differential.  Saint Mary’s University (Calif.) takes the No. 11 spot due to an 0-3 mark at the championship against California State University-Maritime Academy, UC-Santa Cruz “B” and the University of California “B”.  Since both Cal Maritime and California “B” went undefeated – and UC-Santa Cruz “B” lost to both – Santa Cruz “B” take the No. 10 spot.  Since Cal Maritime and California “B” went 2-0-1 (including a 3-3 tie), goal differential breaks the tie with California “B” earning the No. 8 spot with a +19 differential (10-0 W vs. UC-Santa Cruz “B”, 9-1 W vs. Saint Mary’s) compared to Cal Maritime’s +16 (10-3 W vs. UC-Santa Cruz “B”, 15-4 W vs. Saint Mary’s).
