BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The 2022 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Championship All-Tournament team is released with Fordham University’s Nir Gross (Gr., Hod Hasharon, Israel/Hadarin (University of California-Davis) and Bucknell University’s Aleksa Stefanovic (Fr., Belgrade, Serbia/”Sportium” Sportska Gimnazija) and John McBride claiming Most Valuable Player, Rookie of the Tournament and Dick Russell Coach of the Tournament honors, respectively.
A trio of Bison from 2022 MAWPC Championship runner-up Bucknell lead the First Team as Stefanovic, And Vlasceanu (Sr., Bucharest, Romania/Liceul Teoretic “Nicolas Lorga” Bucuretsi) and goalkeeper Adrien Touzot (Sr., Beirut, Lebanon/Brummana) garner recognition. 2022 MAWPC Champion Fordham earns a pair of First Team honorees in Gross and George Papanikolaou (So., Athens, Greece/Athens College), while Wagner College’s Oliver Fodor (Sr., Budapest, Hungary/Szent Istvan Gimnazium) and George Washington University Theodoros Pateros (Gr., Glyfada, Greece/Papacharalabeio) were also recognized for their play.
Fordham’s Jacopo Parrella (So., Naples, Italy/Umberto I State Classical) and goalkeeper Thomas Lercari (So., Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif./Palos Verdes) were named to the Second Team along with Salem University’s Nikola Krstonosic (So., Becej, Serbia/Economic Trade School of Becej) and Marko Zivojinovic (Fr., Belgrade, Serbia/Sports Gymnasium).
The United States Naval Academy’s Michael Heller (So., Menlo Park, Calif./Sacred Heart Prep), Johns Hopkins University’s Emerson Sullivan (Gr., San Anselmo, Calif./Sir Francis Drake) and Mount St. Mary’s University’s Tommaso Baldinetti (So., Recco, Italy/Liceto) complete the All-Tournament selection with trio also garnering Second Team status.
