BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The 2024 Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Championship All-Tournament team is released based on selections from the head coaches of Brown University, Connecticut College, Harvard University, Iona University, Long Island University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Princeton University.
An Honorable Mention team is added this year as the total number of recognized athletes from the three-day championship events on Friday-Sunday, November 22-24, at Princeton’s DeNunzio Pool rises to 21.
Princeton goalkeeper Kristof Kovacs (So., Hódmezovásárhely, Hungary/Bethlen Gábor Reformed) and first-year Gavin Appeldorn (Fr., Newport Beach, Calif./Newport Harbor) claim Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Rookie of the Tournament status for leading the Tigers to the program’s fourth consecutive NWPC Championship. Brown head coach Felix Mercado is lauded with Coach of the Tournament honors for guiding the Bears to the title game versus host Princeton.
