STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The No. 20-ranked Wagner College men’s water polo team added to its streak against New York opponents (three), securing a win over the Iona College Gaels at the Spiro Sports Center.

The Green & White began the matchup with a 5-0 lead on goals from five different Seahawks in senior utility Devin O’Donnell, senior driver Teo Dadic, freshman utility Vuk Bulajic, sophomore driver Jasmin Kolasinac and junior utility Lachlan Trabinger.

The Gaels netted their first goal of the game before senior driver Cole Grady and junior driver Matthew Miller put Wagner up 7-1 before the end of the first period.

After back and forth play up and down the pool without a goal from either team at the start of the second period, Trabinger added his second goal of the game before the Gaels answered with their second tally.

Sophomore lefty Jack Leighton put a tally on the board while Kolasinac added his second on the night, giving Wagner a 10-4 lead at the end of the first half.

Bulajic, Trabinger, Leighton and Kolasinac contributed four unanswered goals, taking a 14-4 lead before Quinn Lloyd of the Gaels scored on a five meter penalty shot.

Leighton and Bulajic each contributed their third goal apiece with under 30 seconds to play in the third stanza.

At the start of the final period, Dadic and Miller tabbed a pair of goals to secure the win with a final score of 19-9.
