2019 Northwest Division Women’s Schedule

Northwest Division Schedule Notes

Teams are scheduled to play every divisional opponent once and one opponent a second time during the regular season. The additional games are selected randomly. Teams voted unanimously on their conference call that teams who play each other more than once in the regular season will count the two games as one in the standing. The winner will be determined by the point differential between the two games. Teams are seeded for championship based on the regular season won/loss record.

As of January 17th, hours for the Willamalane Aquatic Center weekend (hosted by University of Oregon) are tentative until confirmed.

2019 Northwest Women Standings

wdt_ID Final Standing Regular Season Standing Team Win Loss Points Win (Final Standings) Loss (Final Standings)
1 1 1 University of Washington "A" 7 0 14 10 0
2 2 2 University of Oregon "A" 6 1 12 8 2
3 3 3 Oregon State University "A" 5 2 10 7 3
4 4 4 Portland State University * 3 4 6 4 6
5 5 5 University of Washington "B" * 3 4 6 5 5
6 6 6 University of Oregon "B" * 2 5 4 3 7
7 7 7 Western Washington University * 1 6 2 2 8
8 8 8 Oregon State University "B" * 1 6 2 1 9

* As Oregon State University “B” and the University of Oregon “B” both defeated each other by scores of 10-7, the tiebreaker between the two teams goes to common opponents seeded higher.  Since Oregon “B” could finish in a tie with Portland State University and the University of Washington “B” if the team wins the tiebreaker with Oregon State “B”, both Portland State and Washington “B” are eliminated for consideration in the tiebreaker (as the pair would then not be seeded higher than Oregon “B”).  Further, both Oregon State “A” and Oregon “A” are eliminated as the teams gained forfeit wins over their “B” teams.  This leaves one team for consideration – University of Washington “A”.  Since Oregon “A”lost 27-1 to Washington “A” (-26) and Oregon State “B” fell 26-2 (-24), Oregon State “B” takes the win in the head-to-head matchup against Oregon “A”.  Therefore, Oregon “B” finishes 2-5 and takes the No. 6 seed.  However, Oregon State “B” and Western Washington are both 1-6.  Western Washington takes the No. 7 seed on the strength of a 16-10 win over Oregon State “B”.  Finally, Portland State and Washington “B” both stand at 4-3, but Portland State defeated Washington “B” in both their matchups (7-6 W OT, 11-7 W) to take the No. 4 seed
. Due to finishing 4-3, Oregon “B” deadlocks with Portland State University and the Washington “B” for the No. 4 position.  A tiebreaker is then used for goal differential between the three teams.  Portland State holds a +1.5 differential with a +2.5 versus Washington “B” (7-6 W OT, 11-7 W OT = 5/2 = 2.5) and a -1 versus Oregon “B” (9-8 L OT).  Washington “B” finishes with -0.5 differential based on a -2.5 differential versus Portland State (7-6 L OT, 11-7 L = -5/2 =-2.5) and a a +3 versus Oregon “B” (13-10 W). Finally, Oregon “B” holds a -2 differential due to a win over Portland State (9-8 W OT) and a 13-10 loss to Washington “B”.  Therefore, Portland State wins the first tiebreaker based on goal differential.  Following that tiebreaker, it then reverts back to head-to-head with Washington “B” holding a 13-10 win over Oregon “B” to take the No. 5 seed.
