BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the Week 1/September 19 Men’s Collegiate Club Top 20 and Division III Top 10 Polls for the 2019 season.

Defending National Collegiate Club Champion Lindenwood University maintains its position on top of the national rankings, while Washington University in St. Louis and the University of California-Santa Cruz are tied at No. 1 in the Division III poll.

Released each week during the season, the Top 20 and Division III Top 10 polls have no bearing on qualifiers for either the National Collegiate Club Championship or the Division III Collegiate Club Championship.

2019 Men’s Collegiate Club National Top 20 (Week 1/September 19)

Lindenwood University is the unanimous top team in the nation per the Week 1/September 19 Men’s Collegiate Club National Top 20 rankings for the 2019 season.

A four-time National Collegiate Club Champion (2014, 2015, 2016, 2018) and three-time Division III Club Champion (2006, 2007, 2008), the Lions (100 points) are the unanimous favorite to collect the program’s eighth National Championship crown.  Historically, Lindenwood has a chance to tie the all-time record of five Men’s National Collegiate Club Championships held by California Polytechnic State University (1999, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2007) if the Lions can stay at the head of the pride in 2019.

The Top Four positions remain the same from the preseason voting as the University of California (92 points), Cal Poly (89 points) and the University of California-San Diego (79 points) continue at No. 2-to-4, respectively.

The University of California-Davis (73 points) and the University of California-Los Angeles (68 points) both move up one place to fifth and sixth with the University of Utah (65 points) sliding down to No. 7.  San Diego State University (54 points), the University of Michigan (53 points) and the University of Texas (52 points) complete the Top 10 by holding down the final three spots.

The Ohio State University (49 points), Michigan State University (47 points), the University of Florida (43 points), the University of Arizona (37 points) and Boston College (31 points) rate at No. 11-to-15, while the University of California-Irvine (22 points), California State University-Long Beach (20 points) and McKendree University (19 points) stand at No. 16-to-18.

The Pennsylvania State University (13 points) and Villanova University (13 points) complete the Top 20 in a for the No. 19 position.

The 2019 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship will be decided at the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Friday-Sunday, November 15-17.

2019 Men’s Division III Collegiate Club National Top 10 (Week 1/September 19)

Six-time defending Division III Collegiate Club National Champion Washington University in St. Louis, which ranked at No. 1 in the 2019 Preseason Poll, acquires company in the top spot from three-time National Champion (2011, 2013, 2014) the University of California-Santa Cruz in the Week 1/September 19 Men’s Division III Collegiate Club National Top 10 Poll.

The 2011, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 Division III Collegiate Club Champion, Washington in St. Louis (95 points) and UC-Santa Cruz (95 points) hold a three point lead over Tufts University (92 points).

New York University (84 points) and the United States Coast Guard Academy (75 points) complete the Top Five with Bates College (71 points) and Grinnell College (71 points) tying at No. 6.

Carnegie Mellon University (65 points), three-time National Champion (1999, 2004, 2005) Wesleyan University (65 points) and Macalester College (36 points) round out the Top 10.
