SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — The No. 12-ranked Princeton University Tigers extended their winning streak to six games with an 11-9 takedown of the host/No. 8 the University of California-Santa Barbara Gauchos.
The first half had plenty of scoring, mostly courtesy of Keller Maloney who had a first half hat trick as the Tigers held the lead throughout. Isaac Rotenberg tallied a goal with four seconds remaining to carry a 7-4 lead into the second half.
In the second half, Princeton had another hat trick, this time from Roko Pozaric. The Gauchos tied the game at eight-all in the third quarter before the Tigers netted three straight scores to seal the deal with two from Pozaric and another from Quinones.
Pozaric (four) and Maloney (three) combined for seven of Princeton’s markers, while Luke Johnston, Matej Sekulic, Rotenberg and Yurian Quinones each found the back twine once.
West Temkin made seven saves to pick up the win and UCSB’s Danny Roland stopped 12 shots in suffering the loss.
