BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — United States Naval Academy men’s water polo alumnus Jason Salata ’94 guests on the Sing Second Sports podcast.
A former Navy captain and spokesman for the United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM) in Tampa, Fla., Salata is a native of Santa Ana, Calif.
He served as Public Affairs Officer (PAO) to the Commander, Naval Special Warfare Command in Coronado, Calif.; Naval Forces Central Command/U.S. 5th Fleet in Manama, Bahrain; Commander, Naval Surface Forces, San Diego, Calif. (CNSF); Commander, Carrier Strike Group Eleven and USS NIMITZ (CVN 68). Further, he served at U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) and U.S. Pacific Command (PACOM) headquarters with on-the-ground international media experience in both theaters.
Salata was the first military PAO on the ground in Indonesia just hours after the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami devastated several countries in the region. There, he coordinated international media converging on Sumatra to cover Operation Unified Assistance. He is a 2008 graduate of the College of Naval Warfare, U.S. Naval War College.
