BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Caden Capobianco (Sr., Laguna Beach, Calif./Laguna Beach) helped No. 18-ranked the United States Naval Academy to a 2-1 mark at the 2023 Princeton Invitational hosted by Princeton University to earn credit as the September 11 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Defensive Player of the Week.

A six-team MAWPC weekly award recipient from the league office with prior recognition during the Winter 2021 (February 22 Rookie of the Week), 2021 (September 13 Defensive Player of the Week; October 18 Defensive Player of the Week), 2022 (September 15 Defensive Player of the Week) and 2023 (September 4 Defensive Player of the Week), Capobianco finished the weekend with 32 saves and 10 steals over the span of three games.

He tallied seven saves and six steals in a 13-7 defeat of No. 20 Santa Clara University on Saturday, September 9, prior to stopping 12 shots with a pair of takeaways in a 16-8 management of Division III No. 4 Chapman University.

Facing Wagner College in the final game of the weekend and the Midshipmen’s opening game of MAWPC competition, he made 13 saves with a pair of steals in a 13-12 overtime loss to the Seahawks.
