ERIE, Pa. — A pair of former Penn State Behrend water polo players will be among seven individuals inducted into the College’s Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday, September 29, 2018. Anthony Spoto ’08 and Brittany Yost ’07 will join Kevin Buczynski ’08 (men’s basketball), Dustin Fairchild ’08 (men’s swimming), John Fleming ’76 (men’s soccer), Kristin Macha ’07 (softball) and Allison Mudrey ’08 (women’s tennis).

Anthony Spoto ’08 (Birmingham, MI/Birmingham Seaholm) became the first All-American in Penn State Behrend men’s water polo history. He was selected an All-American honorable mention in 2004 as a freshman and again to the second team in 2007 during his senior year. Spoto is a four-time Division III Eastern Championship Team selection and two-time team Most Valuable Player (MVP). He set new program records in career goals (237) and drawn kickouts (183), while setting the single-season record for goals (76) and drawn kickouts (59). Spoto was also a member of the men’s swimming and diving team.

Brittany Yost ’07 (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) was a two-sport athlete at Penn State Behrend, making her mark on the swimming and diving team as well as the water polo team from 2004-07. Her freshman year, she averaged 3.0 steals per game to finish with a season-best 83 steals to rank fourth on the all-time charts and earn team Rookie of the Year. The three-time team MVP and two-year captain for water polo set the career mark for steals with 246, was second in drawn kickouts (85) and sixth in assists (50).
