2023 Brown University Men’s Water Polo Schedule

PROVIDENCE, R.I.  — Brown University men’s water polo Head Coaching Chair Felix Mercado announced the program’s 2023 schedule. The slate features 19 home games for the Bears, including two weekend tournaments.

Brown will begin its schedule hosting the Bruno Classic from Saturday-Monday, September 2-4. The Bears will play two games each day beginning with games against Augustana College and Pepperdine University on Saturday, September 2. On Sunday, September 3, Brown faces Bucknell University and Fordham University.  The Bears conclude the tournament on Monday, September 4, against University of the Pacific and first-year varsity program Wheaton College.

“I am super excited for this upcoming season,” said Mercado. “We have some great games against Top 10 teams in September, followed by a tough conference slate. Considering how young we will be, it will be important for us to gain the necessary experience to be ready to compete for a conference championship.”

The Bears will make two trips to California this season, heading to Long Beach for games against Biola University and Long Beach State University on Saturday, September 16, and contest against the University of California-Irvine on Sunday, September 17. Brown will play at tournament at Santa Clara University on Saturday-Sunday, October 21-22, with meetings with the United States Air Force Academy, California State University-Fullerton and the host Broncos.

Brown will also host part of the Harvard University Invitational as the Bears welcome George Washington University and Salem University to Providence on Saturday, October 14.  On Sunday, October 15, the team will face Pomona Pitzer Colleges and Occidental College.

The Bears remaining home games will be against Mercyhurst University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on Saturday, September 23; Harvard and MIT on Sunday, October 8; Princeton University on Saturday, October 28; Long Island University and Iona University on Sunday, October 29; and Fordham and Connecticut College on Saturday, November 11.

Brown will be on the road at Long Island and Iona on Saturday, September 30; Princeton on Sunday, October 1; MIT on Saturday, November 4; and Harvard on Sunday, November 5.

The 2023 Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Championship is slated for Friday-Sunday, November 17-19, in Cambridge, Mass., at Harvard’s Blodgett Pool.
