PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Brown University will host its inaugural Future of Coaching Summit on June 27. Participants will hear from thought leaders across intercollegiate and professional sports about their use of ecological dynamics and skill acquisition methodologies, which are at the forefront of developing athletes. In addition to in-person participants, the summit will offer remote participation options.

M. Grace Calhoun ’92, Ph.D., Samuel M. Mencoff ’78 Vice President for Athletics and Recreation is thrilled to host the first-of-its-kind event on Brown’s campus.

“Coaching today is about more than just wins and losses — it’s about shaping lives,” said Calhoun. “The Future of Coaching Summit will provide a dynamic platform to challenge assumptions, inspire new thinking, and equip leaders with tools to serve our athletes and communities better.”

Among the lineup of expert speakers is Alex Sarama, the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Director of Player Development.

“I am so excited by the work Brown is doing to embrace contemporary skill acquisition research within collegiate athletics,” stated Sarama. “I cannot wait to present ideas for using a constraints-led approach across various sports.”
