LEWISBURG, Pa. — Bucknell University seeks an Assistant Athletic Director for Aquatics and Auxiliary Services.

This full-time position supervises Bucknell’s Aquatics Facilities, including daily and event operations, scheduling, staffing, and programming for Bucknell varsity program, recreation, student and faculty wellness and special users. Serves as the primary liaison to the Bucknell Physical Plant for all aquatic maintenance and upkeep. Additional auxiliary services responsibilities include: (a) serving as the primary liaison to the third-party fitness equipment vendor that supplies/maintains campus-wide fitness equipment; and (b) managing operations of the Bachman Instructional Golf Center for varsity teams and outside members.

This position works as part of an events and operations team under the direct supervision of the Associate AD/Operations and Event Management.

Job Duties (aquatics):
1. Manage the successful operations and maintenance of all aquatic spaces including water chemistry, mechanical systems and components, and pool equipment. Implement practices and routines with the facilities staff to assure that the aquatic spaces are regularly cleaned and maintained to meet Department of Health and University expectations.
2. Hire, supervise, and train full-time, part-time, and work-study personnel involved with the operation of natatorium, golf center, fitness center, and special events.
3. Coordinate planning and on-site event day management for aquatic events.
4. Schedule aquatic activity and space for all user groups and special groups. Serve as primary booking and event liaison to all external event groups. This position shall serve as Meet Manager the majority of Natatorium events.
5. Develop and implement risk management policies and procedures for aquatics, including real-time monitoring and application of the Natatorium’s operator procedural manuals.
6. Coordinate the purchase, maintenance, and inventory of aquatics facility and program equipment.
7. Establish policies and procedures for the use of and operation of aquatic spaces. Manage cases of participant dissatisfaction according to University and Department policies.
8. Develop, coordinate, and implement facility set-up procedures for scheduled aquatic/pavilion events.
9. Instruct one or two aquatic classes per semester as necessary.
10. Develop new concepts for facility (natatorium, pavilion shared spaces) usage. Oversee the promotion and implementation of same.
11. Perform other duties and/or jobs deemed necessary for the functioning and success of the Event Management area.

Job Duties (auxiliary services):
1. Manage scheduling, operations, outside memberships, team requirements, and project maintenance for the Bachman Golf Center.
2. Serve as the primary liaison to the third-party equipment vendor that supplies and maintains the fitness equipment for the following facilities: Krebs Fitness Center; Berger Varsity Strength Center; Wrestling Room; Aerobics Room; Fieldhouse and Mathewson-Memorial Stadium Weight Room. This oversight responsibility also includes the student-based cleaning staff.
3. Develop and implement daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly procedures for facility/equipment inspection, maintenance, repair, and renewal for Kinney Natatorium and Krebs Fitness Center.
4. Serve as Event Manager for select Patriot League, CWPA, NCAA championships and other varsity contests (M&W Golf, W. Rowing, Cross Country).

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree
2. Five years of event management experience in aquatics or similar field, plus five years of supervision experience (does not necessarily have to be supervision experience in aquatics)
3. Must possess both basic level and instructor certifications in all of these areas:
(a) American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED & First Aid Certification
(b) American Red Cross Instructor Certification in Lifesaving, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED & First Aid
(c) Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification

The Assistant Athletic Director must possess the interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with a wide variety of people of diverse backgrounds and at various levels of the organization, as well as provide excellent customer service. S/he must also be a self-starter who has the ability to balance multiple tasks, produce high-quality work on tight deadlines, and be able to manage a work schedule that includes evening and weekend work.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree
2. Certified Pool Operator credentials
3. Experience with both Hytek Meet Management and EMS scheduling software
