BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — On the Friday before Labor Day each year, colleges around the country celebrate “College Colors Day” to commemorate the traditions and spirit that embody the college experience by wearing your college team’s colors and apparel.  Established to celebrate the start of college football season, it usually falls in line with the start of water polo season every year.

This year, the date falls on Friday, August 30.

The 20th annual College Colors Day, which was created by collegiate licensing leader CLC, is a national holiday that gives the more than 185 million college fans across the country a dedicated day to showcase their unmatched passion and spirit while sharing their pride on social media using the hashtag #CollegeColorsDay.

Looking for ways to celebrate the day?:

  • Wear your favorite college’s apparel (note: water polo suits in class or at work are not proper attire – caps are OK most of the time, but ask permission and make sure the numbers are large enough to be seen in either lecture halls or corporate meetings)
  • Tweet @collegecolors
  • Tag a photo on Instagram #CollegeColorsDay
