BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Due to Hurricane Florence intensifying to a Category 4 storm with 140-mph winds with the potential for landfall between South Carolina and Delaware/New Jersey, the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) reminds its member institutions to check for updates on the CWPA website regarding potential schedule changes for events on Friday-Sunday, September 14-16.

Earlier today, North Carolina State University postponed the men’s collegiate club Atlantic Division tournament on Saturday-Sunday, September 15-16.

The National Hurricane Center is predicating that winds will reach 155 mph on Tuesday, September 11, just two mph shy of Category 5. Due to the storm intensifying, the center expects to issue hurricane watches for parts of the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic coasts.

Computer-model forecasts generally project the storm to make landfall between northern South Carolina and North Carolina’s Outer Banks as a Category 4 on Thursday, September 13, although shifts in the track are possible and storm impacts will expand great distances beyond where landfall occurs.
