2019 Southwest Division Women’s Schedule

Southwest Division Schedule Notes

Teams are scheduled to play every divisional opponent once and two opponents a second time during the regular season. The additional games are selected randomly other than schools with both an “A” and “B” roster being guaranteed to only playing once. Teams are seeded for championship based on the regular season won/loss record.

The University of San Diego had hoped to join the league this season but are not comfortable committing to the three weekends of competition at the current size of their roster. With classes not starting after the winter break until January 28th, the team has decided they would like to participate as an exhibition squad. Games have been worked into the schedule for the weekend of March 30-31 and April 13-14 based on pool availability. Exhibition matches will be assigned based on opponents’ interest in picking up additional games.

As of February 1st, the schedule has been revised as the University of New Mexico has notified the office that they will not be participating in the Southwest Division due to travel concerns and a limited roster. They have decided to participate in the Rocky Mountain Division instead. The schedule has been revised to a seven-team format with the schedule getting randomly redrawn for the additional games. Please review your team schedule carefully to confirm game times.

REVISED 2.1.19: As of April 11th, the championship schedule at San Diego State University has been revised on Saturday afternoon as the exhibition game on that day has been canceled and the last three games were moved up. The early games on Saturday and Sunday game times remain the same. Please be sure to review the game schedule for adjusted times.

NOTE: San Diego State University will charge an admission fee of $5/day and $7/weekend pass on April 13-14 to help cover the costs of hospitality and lifeguard fees.  Students with a valid ID are free.

^Arizona State University claims the No. 6 seed due to an 8-6 win over San Diego State University “B”; *University of California-San Diego “A” and San Diego State University “A” defeated each other by one goal (UC San Diego “A” 4, San Diego State “A” 3; San Diego State “A” 6, UC San Diego 5), so the No. 1 seed is determined by goal differential versus the next highest seeded opponent.  Versus No. 3 seed the University of Arizona, both teams won by six goals (SDSU “A” 15, Arizona 9; UCSD “A” 13, Arizona 7).  Against No. 4 seed the University of California-Irvine, both teams won by four (SDSU “A” 6, UC Irvine 2; UCSD “A’ 9, UC Irvine 5).  The No. 5 seed can not be used as per league rules UC-San Diego “B” had to forfeit to UC-San Diego “A”.  Due to the tiebreaker for the No. 6 seed – which Arizona State via a head-to-head win over San Diego State “B” – and due to the fact that SDSU “B” can not be used for purposes of tiebreakers for the same reason as UCSD “B”, UC-San Diego “A” wins the tiebreaker.  This is due to the fact that the Tritons won 16-3 versus Arizona State bettering a pair of wins by SDSU “A” as the Aztecs claimed 15-3 and 14-3 wins.
