2022 Men’s Collegiate Club Big Ten Division Schedule
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2022 Men’s Collegiate Club Big Ten Division schedule.
Comprised of Indiana University, Michigan State University, Northwestern University, Purdue University, The Ohio State University, the University of Illinois, the University of Iowa, the University of Michigan and the University of Wisconsin, the Big Ten Division will contest its 12th season in the CWPA. Historically, defending National Champion Michigan State (2010, 2014, 2019, 2021), Michigan (2011, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018) and Indiana (2013) have all previously claimed the division crown since the group elected to join the league prior to the 2010 season. The 2020 season was not contested due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Competition begins on Saturday-Sunday, October 1-2, at Indiana in Bloomington, Ind., with a 20-game tournament. The schedule for the weekend is pending approval by the participating teams. Both versions of the potential weekend schedule are listed in the preliminary schedule with all games slated to use six-minute quarters with teams limited to one timeout per half.
Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa, will host a 10-game tournament on Saturday-Sunday, October 8-9, with Illinois, Indiana, Northwestern and Wisconsin, while Ohio State hosts an eight-game weekend on October 8-9 with Michigan, Michigan State and Purdue to complete the regular season.
The division championship will be decided on Saturday-Sunday, October 22-23, at Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich., as the teams contest a 14-game slate. The victor of the division championship earns an automatic berth to the 2022 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship on the weekend of Friday-Sunday, November 11-13, at a site to be determined.
