BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2025 Week 2/January 29 Women’s Varsity National Top 25, Division III Top 10, CWPA Top Five and CWPA Division III Top Five Polls.

Defending National Champion the University of California-Los Angeles remains at No. 1 in the National Top 25 rankings, while Pomona-Pitzer Colleges – which garnered the 2024 USA Water Polo Division III Collegiate Championship – is favored to repeat in the Division III Top 10 balloting.

2024 CWPA Division I (Princeton University) and Division III (Augustana College) champions retain their prior rankings at No. 1 in the  CWPA Top Five and CWPA Division III Top Five Polls, respectively.

Voted on by a panel of coaches from around the country based on the cumulative results of the season, the polls will be compiled and released on Wednesday during the season starting the Wednesday following the first regular season contest.

2025 Women’s Varsity National Top 25 (Week 2)

The University of California-Los Angeles maintains a No. 1 ranking in the Week 2/January 29 2025 Women’s Varsity National Top 25 Poll.

The Bruins (99 points) maintain a two point lead over Stanford University (97 points) for the top spot with the University of Southern California (91 points), the University of California (89 points) and the University of Hawaii (84 points) continuing at No. 3-to-5, respectively.

The first change comes at No. 6 as the University of California-Irvine (77 points) rises one place.  Arizona State University (72 points) and Fresno State (72 points) also climb the national ranking ladder to tie at No. 7 with Princeton University (70 points) and Long Beach State University (66 points) backing up to No. 9 and 10.

Loyola Marymount University (62 points), Indiana University (56 points), the University of Michigan (52 points), the University of California-San Diego (47 points) and the University of California-Santa Barbara (40 points) rearrange to rate at No. 11-to-15.

San Jose State University (39 points), California State University-Northridge (34 points) and San Diego State University (28 points) take over at No. 16-to-18 with Harvard University (24 points) and Wagner College (24 points) tying at No. 19.

The University of California-Davis (20 points) slips back to No. 21 with Brown University (13 points) and California Baptist University (13 points) tying at No 22.

University of the Pacific (12 points) and Long Island University (10 points) complete the Week 2 Top 25.

2025 Women’s Varsity Division III Top 10 (Week 2)

Pomona-Pitzer Colleges stays at No. 1 in the Week 2/January 29 Women’s Varsity Division III Top 10 Poll.

Pomona-Pitzer (100 points) becomes a unanimous top selection and expands is lead to five points over runner-up Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (95 points).  Chapman University (88 points) surpasses California Lutheran University (87 points) to take over at No. 3 with the University of La Verne (78 points) and Augustana College (74 points) continuing at No. 5 and 6 for another seven-day run.

Whittier College (65 points), Macalester College (65 points) and Austin College (65 points) enter a three-way tie at No. 7 with Occidental College (34 points) completing the Top 10.

2025 Women’s Varsity Collegiate Water Polo Association Top 5 (Week 2)

Defending Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Champion Princeton University remains the early season favorite to capture another title in 2025 as the Tigers retain the No. 1 spot in the Week 2/January 29 CWPA Division I Top Five Poll.

The 2000, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2023 and 2024 league champion Tigers (98 points) hold a retain a two-point margin over 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022 league champion the University of Michigan (96 points) for the lead position. 

Brown University (89 points), Harvard University (87 points) and Bucknell University (48 points) round out the remainder of the Top Five.

2023 and 2024 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Champion Augustana College is the top-ranked program in the Week 2/January 29 2025 CWPA Division III Top Five Poll.

The Vikings (100 points) hold onto unanimous favorite status with 2021 and 2022 CWPA Division III Champion Austin College (92 points) breaking a tie with 2017, 2018 and 2019 CWPA Division III Champion Macalester College (91 points) to gain sole control of the No. 2 spot.

Washington & Jefferson College (87 points) and Connecticut College (64 points) rate at No. 4 and 5, respectively.
