BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Connecticut College men’s and women’s water polo assistant coach Hannah Ellett is the guest on the latest edition of Brandon’s Sports Talk.
Ellett arrived in New London, Conn., in January 2023 after serving as the assistant for both the men’s and women’s water polo programs and the head coach of the men’s club team at McKendree University during the Fall of 2022.
During her tenure in Lebanon, Ill., she helped the McKendree men’s varsity team finish 8-19, 3-17 in the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) with a Third Place mark at the Division II Eastern Championship held at the Hallman Aquatics Center in Erie, Pa., and a Seventh Place finish at the MAWPC Championship hosted by Fordham University in the Bronx, N.Y.
In addition, she led the Bearcats’ men’s club team to an 8-4 mark, the Missouri Valley Division Championship and an Eighth Place finish at the Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship held at the Chehalem Aquatics & Fitness Center in Newberg, Oregon.
The Merced, Calif., native spent the prior two seasons prior to joining McKendree at El Capitan High School as the head varsity aquatics coach. During her time with the Gauchos, the school won back-to-back Central California Conference (CCC) Championships and advanced to the semifinal round of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Sac-Joaquin Section Division II Playoffs.
In addition to coaching in high school, Ellett was also a high school English teacher at both Buhach Colony High School and El Capitan High School.
Along with her high school coaching experience, Ellett served as the head coach of the 18-&-Under and 16-&-Under Boys team for SKIP Water Polo Club. In addition, she also coached the 16-&-Under Boys team for Central Valley United during their inaugural summer season in 2022.
Ellett played water polo for local clubs and at Buhach Colony High School while growing up in Merced, Calif. Following her high school career, Ellett went on to play water polo at Whittier College where she was part of back-to-back Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCAIC) Championships in 2015 and 2016.
During the summer months as an intercollegiate student-athlete at Whittier, Ellett returned home to coach the 14-&-Under and 16-&-Under Girls teams for the SKIP Water Polo Club.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Whittier in 2017 and received her master’s degree in English Literature from Chico State University in 2019.
