BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The CWPA Remote series continues as Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Hall of Fame member George Gross, Jr., talks with Johns Hopkins University alumnus and United States House of Representatives Legislative Director Joe Jankiewicz.
A four-year member of the Blue Jays’ water polo team, he helped JHU record a 73-53 mark during the 2004-to-2007 seasons, including a 24-6 mark in 2005. A 2006 and 2007 CWPA All-Academic selection, he aided Johns Hopkins in capturing three CWPA Division III Championships (2004, 2005, 2006), a quartet of Fifth Place finishes at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship, four Top Five marks at the CWPA Southern Division Championship (2004 – Fifth; 2005 – Fifth; 2006 – Fourth; 2007- Second) and a pair of appearances at the CWPA Eastern Championship (2006 – Fourth; 2007 – Seventh).
A 2008 graduate of JHU and the 2013 recipient of a Master of Arts in International Economics and International Relations from Hopkins’ Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Jankiewicz served on the Legislative staff in the U.S. Senate from August 2008-to-November 2011. After serving as an intern at the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security, U.S. Department of Commerce (June-to-August 2012) and the Podesta Group (May 2013-to-December 2013), he joined the Washington D.C. firm of CJ Lake as a Government Affairs Associate from January-August 2014.
A native of Coronado, Calif., he joined the staff of Representative/United States House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff of California first as a Senior Legislative Assistant (August 2014-to-December 2015) and a Senior Policy Advisor (December 2015-to-January 2017) prior to assuming his current position in February 2017 as the Legislative Director for the congressman.
