BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The CWPA Remote interview series continues as University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign alumna/former Carthage College athlete/meteorologist Lisa Michaels talks with Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Director of Communications Ed Haas.

A meteorologist at KFVS Channel 12, a CBS-affiliated television station licensed to Cape Girardeau, Missouri, United States, serving Southeastern Missouri, the Purchase area of Western Kentucky, Southern Illinois and Northwest Tennessee, since January 2012, Michaels earned a Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Sciences from Illinois. During her studies in Champaign, she spent nearly one month storm chasing and was able to see over 20 tornadoes, hail events and other weather phenomena.

She began her career in television with a broadcast meteorology internship at WCIA in Champaign, and previously worked at WEEK in Peoria.

Born and raised in the northern suburbs of Chicago, she has played bassoon for 10 years.  Further, she traveled to Nicaragua and as part of a team that worked on installing a water filtration system and a weather station during college.
