BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Goalkeeper Sophia Bassett (So., Orlando, Fla./Boone) of No. 10-ranked Florida State University contributed 37 saves and nine steals in three games at home in Tallahassee, Fla., during the opening weekend of Women’s Collegiate Club Southeast Division competition to claim the group’s January 27 Player of the Week award.

She helped the Seminoles against the University of Florida “A” (7-5 L, 10-9 W OT) and Florida “B” (15-3 W) as the team also picked up a 5-0 forfeit victory versus the University of Alabama during a 3-1 weekend.

Florida State – which stands in a three-way tie for first place in the Southeast Division standings with a 3-1 mark – handed Florida “A” a loss in the weekend finale by overcoming the Gators in overtime.  Bassett notched 12 saves and a pair of steals in the win – including a one-on-none block in the closing minutes of regulation to send the game into overtime.
