BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Balazs Berenyi (Fr., Budapest, Hungary/BME Secondary Grammar School) of No. 17-ranked Fordham University totaled 10 goals, five assists and five steals in the span of four matches at the 2022 Brown University Bruno Classic to earn recognition as the September 5 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Rookie of the Week.

He helped the defending MAWPC Champion Rams to a 2-2 mark in his inaugural intercollegiate contests. 

On Saturday, September 3, Fordham fell to No. 14/host Harvard University (15-9 L) and topped Division III No. 6 the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (14-7 W) on Saturday, September 3, at Harvard’s Blodgett Pool in Cambridge, Mass., prior to turning back fellow MAWPC institution Gannon University (28-8 W) and faltering versus No. 5 University of the Pacific (13-7 L) on Sunday, September 4, at Brown’s Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center in Providence, RI.

He had a pair of goals in the season opener at Harvard and followed up with two goals, an assist, and two steals versus MIT.

Berenyi added a match-high six goals to accompany three assists and two steals in the Ram’s defeat of Gannon prior to notching an assist and a steal in the loss to Pacific.
