BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Fordham University’s Scott Kwiatkowski garners recognition as the 2022-23 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Sports Information Director of the Year.
Selected by the CWPA Director of Communications, the SID of the Year award is presented to individuals who “have achieved notable excellence in the field of water polo communications during the past academic year.”
The award marks the seventh honor bestowed exclusively to MAWPC institutions following the division of the CWPA men’s teams into the MAWPC and Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) during the Summer of 2016.
A four-time SID of the Year recipient following 2010-11 and 2011-12 CWPA Northern Division honors prior to earning accolades as the 2021-22 MAWPC-East Region SID of the Year, Kwiatkowski serves as the Associate Sports Information Director at Fordham and holds responsibilities for coverage of soccer, water polo, swimming & diving, squash, cross-country/track & field and baseball.
During the 2022 season, he took on the responsibility of streaming each Fordham men’s water polo home game on CWPATV.com and served as the coordinator of streaming coverage for the MAWPC Championship hosted by the Rams at the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center.
Currently in his 22nd year with the Fordham Sports Information Office – including his 12th as the Associate Sports Information Director after serving as an assistant sports information director the first 10 – he has worked as an official statistician for New York area colleges, as well as for the New York Dragons (Arena Football), the Westchester Wildfire (USBL), and the WNBA Pre-Draft Camp.
A 2001 graduate of Fordham with a bachelor’s degree in Communications & Media Studies he interned for ABC Sports Radio in the fall of 2000, served as a freelance writer for newspapers, such as The Telegram Gazette in Worcester, Massachusetts, and worked at the 2001 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament during his undergraduate days in the Bronx.
The recipient of the 2008 Jack Coffey Award, which is presented to a Fordham administrator, alumnus, or coach for outstanding contributions and dedication to the athletic program. Kwiatkowski was the recipient of an honorary letterwinner award at the 2014 Block “F” Dinner. In Spring of 2021, he received the Archbishop Hughes Medal for 20 years of service to Fordham.
