BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Former University of Michigan athletes Kathy Rogers ’21 and Sophie Jackson ’22 were named to the Great Britain roster for the upcoming 2024 World Aquatics Women’s Water Polo Championship on February 2-18 in Doha, Qatar.
Great Britain – which will make the nation’s first appearance at the World Championships since a 13th place mark at the 2013 event in Barcelona, Spain – will compete in Pool D at the event against Italy, Canada and South Africa. A native of New Forest, England and a graduate of the Trinity School, Rogers will serve as captain of the Great Britain squad. She competed at Michigan during the 2018-2021 seasons and compiled 77 goals, 35 assists, 29 drawn exclusions, 82 steals and 56 field blocks. Jackson, a native of West Yorkshire and a graduate of the Crosley Heath Grammar School, competed for the Maize & Blue in 2020, 2021 and 2022 following a redshirt season in 2019. A member of Michigan’s 2019, 2020 and 2022 CWPA Championship teams, she appeared in 44 games during her tenure in Ann Arbor with a 15-1 record, 181 saves, 127 goals against (6.23 goals against average), six assists and 22 steals.
