2018 Gannon University Men’s Water Polo Schedule

ERIE, Pa. — Gannon University recently released its 2018 men’s water polo schedule.

Coached by Sean Morphy, the Golden Knights will battle through a six-match Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) schedule with single match-ups against rival Mercyhurst University, Connecticut College, McKendree University (Ill.), Washington & Jefferson College, Monmouth College (Ill.) and Salem University (W.Va.).

Gannon kicks off the 2018 campaign with three consecutive tournaments at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational (September 1-2), Mercyhurst Invitational (September 8-9) and Bucknell University Bison Invitational (September 15-16). A MAWPC Weekend hosted by Washington & Jefferson follows on September 22-23. Opponents for the conference weekend include Washington & Jefferson, McKendree and Monmouth.

The only home contest of the season is scheduled for the weekend of September 29-30 against Mount San Antonio. The official date and time has yet to be announced. The Golden Knights will also participate in the Penn State Behrend Open that same weekend.

The month of October kicks off October 13-14 at the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division II Championship hosted by McKendree. Gannon then concludes the regular season with another MAWPC Weekend hosted by Connecticut College. The Golden Knights will battle Salem, Mercyhurst and Connecticut College during the final weekend.

The MAWPC Western Region Championship is scheduled for November 3-4 at Cathedral Prep High School’s David M. Hallman III Aquatics Center. The top team will advance to the MAWPC Championships hosted by Fordham University on November 16-18.

Gannon had a record-breaking 2017 season that included 16 consecutive victories, the longest streak in program history. The Golden Knights finished with an 18-8 record, winning the CWPA Division II Championship and MAWPC-Western Region title. Gannon also posted a perfect 7-0 conference record for the second consecutive year.
