BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Seth Johnson (So., Sugar Hill, Georgia/Lanier) of Gannon University scored five goals to lead the Golden Knights of Gannon University to a 26-5 victory over Mount St. Mary’s University at the Aquatic Center at Mylan Park in Morgantown, West Virginia, in both teams’ season opener. The performance garners Johnson recognition as the January 25 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Player of the Week.
The five goals set a new career high for Johnson, while the 26 goals scored by the team set a new program record for goals in a game, topping the old mark of 25 that had stood for 11 years.
The honor marks the first Player of the Week nod for Gannon since Zarko Sadikovic shared the October 29, 2018 award with Milos Popovic of Salem University. Further, he becomes the inaugural Golden Knights’ athlete to earn solo status as Player of the Week since Sadikovic who earned the status on September 12, 2016.
