ARLINGTON, Va. Bucknell University led 13-11 entering the fourth quarter, but host George Washington University held the Bison scoreless over the final eight minutes and surged for four goals to claim a 15-13 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) victory at the Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center.

Jack Murad led the Bison scorers with three goals.

The first quarter gave spectators the signs of a high-scoring affair with the teams combining for 11 goals. Bucknell edged George Washington 6-5 in the tally department.

The Bison extended their lead to 8-5 but, like their namesake, the Revolutionaries proved best when facing the odds and fought back to within one goal. Bucknell used a Sean Tunnicliff goal for a 10-8 halftime lead.

George Washington rocketed ahead 11-10 on a 3-0 run in the third quarter. Bucknell, trailing for the first time all game, responded with its own 3-0 stretch to regain the lead heading into the final stanza.

The fourth quarter, like 1781, belonged to George Washington. The Revolutionaries scored four goals and kept Bucknell away from the cage for the 15-13 conference victory.
